What Kind Of Issues With 2FA/PIN Can Happen And How To Overcome These Issues
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an important security measure to help protect your BTC-Alpha account. It implies double protection of your account with a password and a unique code generated by the Google Authenticator app.
What Can Go Wrong?
Users often have questions about what characters to enter in which field when using two-factor protection (2FA). Many people are confused by the name "token". It means a combination of characters that allows you to log into your account.
What's The Difference Between A PIN, A Secret Key And A Token?
PIN and token are not the same thing. PIN is a code that you receive by email and enter in the appropriate field. A token is a unique set of characters that the Google Authenticator app generates in response to your request to sign in to your account. You will see a QR code and below it a combination of symbols called a secret key. This is done for the convenience of users who can choose a more convenient option depending on the device they use to log into the platform.
What is Publisher?
If you choose to manually enter the secret key in Google Authenticator, you will see two fields that will require you to enter the publisher's name and the secret key. If the secret key is a combination of characters generated by the application along with a QR code, then the publisher is the email that your BTC-Alpha account is registered to. When you enter these details, the program will generate the very token that you need to enter the platform.
How Long Is The Token Valid?
If you refresh the web page, the program changes the token to a new one, and then you will not be able to enter using the old token, after a few seconds it will become unavailable. It's better to enter the token as soon as it has been generated.
Invalid Token And What To Do With It
If you are doing everything correctly, and you still see a message about an invalid token, the issue may be a time difference. Everywhere there are different time zones, but it is important that the time on the device from which you log into your account is accurate. A gap of more than 20 seconds can cause login issues due to token expiration. Use the automatic time setting if you are unsure how to set it exactly yourself.
If that doesn't help, you can use spare tokens. And if that doesn't work, please contact our 24/7 Customer Support team with this and any other issues.
